For anyone who’s not Canadian, something you should know is that we’re weirdly proud of a few things: Heated Rivalry (duh), Ryan Gosling, Joni Mitchell, Purdys chocolate, and…Canadian Tire.
If you’ve never heard of it, Canadian Tire is our ultimate hardware store…that also fixes cars. You can buy patio furniture, pick up lumber for your next DIY Pinterest inspiration, get windshield-wiping fluid…all while a mechanic changes your tires. It’s basically Home Depot with a garage and Canadian flags.

And Canadian Heated Rivalry star Hudson William only had to walk around with an item from Canadian Tire for one afternoon with his costar, Connor Storrie, to make it HOT. And the item will COMPLETELY shock you. It wasn’t a hockey stick, a power drill, or a pair of hiking boots — it was a reusable shopping bag. More specifically, a red plaid Canadian Tire tote bag.

According to CBC, Canadian Tire employees have already started calling it the “Hudson Williams bag.” And if you’re thinking you can just pop into a store and grab one for yourself, think again. Because according to CBC, every store across the Greater Toronto Area has completely sold out.

Turns out, it wasn’t even remotely popular before the paparazzi photos of Connor and Hudson. A Canadian Tire employee told CBC, “I was very shocked when I heard, ‘Oh, that one got trendy.’” The employee went on to say that the bag had been a “slow mover” in sales, and the store had been trying to clear its inventory because hardly anyone was buying it. Enter…Hudson Williams.

And once the photo started making the rounds online, some Canadians were quick to take advantage of the opportunity. One Canadian Tire employee told CBC, “There was a guy actually who first came in, and he said some famous guy had a bag or something, and how it’s going to sell out quick. So he came and bought five bags.” Honestly, that was a pretty smart move. As a Toronto girl, I kind of wish I could get my hands on one of those totes now.

Right now, Hudson Williams and the Heated Rivalry team are filming Season 2 in Toronto, so hopefully this won’t be the last we see of him. And who knows? Maybe he’ll make another random Canadian item go viral. As for the guy who bought five bags on day one…send me your eBay listing. I’m ready to make some terrible financial decisions.
