Google’s recent reshuffling of its AI operations has many thinking that the company has failed in the AI race. However, the company may just be refocusing its resources on its strengths. Google Cloud may be a much larger economic opportunity than pursuing its rivals in the frontier AI race. The company’s enormous distribution advantage means it doesn’t have to compete in the expensive and unprofitable frontier race.
